Stakeholder Feedback
Comments and suggestions are always welcome and valued at Lakeview. We recognize that what makes our students successful is the collaboration between families, school staff, and the community. Families are invited and encouraged to provide feedback on the school's Parent and Family Engagement Policy by attending meetings, contacting a school staff member or administrator, or submitting written feedback at any time.
We are thankful for your involvement and support.
School-Parent Compact
Lakeview Elementary Design Center (funded in part by Title 1) created this compact to outline how families, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved academic achievement. Also, it will outline how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve or exceed the state's high standards of learning.
Lakeview will:
- Provide a safe and orderly environment.
- Establish consistent guidelines for appropriate school behavior and support policies and procedures.
- Be a positive role model.
- Respect diversity.
- Show respect for each child and his/her family.
- Provide students with high quality instruction and homework which will enable students to meet state standards.
- Address individual needs of children.
- Believe each child can learn and encourage each child to strive for his/her personal best.
- Provide open lines of communication to keep families informed (phone calls, email, daily agenda, folders, conferences, etc.)
- Hold parent-teacher conferences each fall to discuss academic achievement and social skills, along with review of this compact.
- Provide parents with frequent reports on their children's progress to include progress reports and report cards four times a year as well as test results from universal screening assessments.
- Provide information about upcoming school events through newsletters, notes, callouts, and/or websites.
- Provide opportunities that encourage families to be involved at school through volunteering, family involvement committees, conferences, family nights, parent workshops, family nights, and informative meetings.
As a parent, I know it is important to have my child reach their full academic potential. Therefore, I will encourage my student(s) by doing the following:
- See that my child comes to school regularly on time, well-rested, dressed appropriately, and with necessary supplies.
- Promote good character and social skills that encourage positive interactions with all.
- Show respect with my words and actions for my child, other children and their families, teachers and school staff, and the school.
- Share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement.
- Establish a time and a place for homework and check it nightly.
- Have high but realistic expectations for my child.
- Read to my child daily.
- Check the student agenda and/or take home folder daily. Read information sent home. Review appropriate communication modes, i.e., newsletters, notes home, website, etc. and sign and return paperwork in a timely manner.
- Have ongoing communication and work with my child's school and teacher to encourage my student(s) learning and positive behavior.
- Attend the annual Parent-Teacher Conferences.
- Communicate with the school about changes in address and phone numbers.
- Support my child's education by volunteering at school, attending academic meetings, and/or actively participating in the Family Involvement Committee.
Please discuss the following information with your child.
It is important that I as a student do the best that I can. Therefore:
- I will have a positive attitude and accept responsibility for my behavior and actions,
- I will be respectful and show good character at all times to myself, my classmates, teachers, and school staff.
- Work cooperatively with my classmates and my teacher.
- Strive to do my personal best.
- I will adhere to the rules of my school and classrooms. (Respectful, Responsible, Safe)
- I will always complete all homework and class assignments to the best of my ability with a positive, can-do attitude.
- I will come to school on time each day with my completed assignments and have all the materials I need for learning.
- I will dress in appropriately for school
- I will follow the guidelines of the citizenship pledge: "I am responsible for my actions and behaviors today. I will listen, do my work, and learn. I will respect the feelings, property, and rights of others. I will be a good citizen by doing what is right, not because I am being watched by teachers, but because it is the right thing for me to do for myself and others."
