Family Engagement Policy

Welcoming and Involving Families 

Families are invited to be active participants in the school. Lakeview is committed to welcoming and involving families through family events like

• Open House
• Donuts with Grownups
• Math and Reading Night
• Coffee Chats
• Parent-Teacher Conferences

Communicating with Families 

Lakeview staff are committed to two-way communication with families to keep them informed about student learning. Communication will be offered in the family's home language. Some ways we will communicate with families include

• Phone calls and in-person meetings with the assistance of an interpreter, when needed

• Text messages and emails between families and school staff, facilitated through the Remind App and our school call-out system

• Regular school newsletters, social media platforms, and our school website

Parents as Partners 

Lakeview families are encouraged to contribute to the success of students and the school through

• Joining the Parent Advisory Committee 

• Volunteering  

• Attending school events and parent input opportunities like our Annual Title I Meeting and School Improvement meetings

• Answering surveys for parent input through Panorama and directly from the school 

Engaging the Community 

Families and staff collaborate with community members to connect students, families, and staff to expand learning opportunities, partner students and families with community resources and events, and increase the investment of the local community in the success of our students. We currently engage the community by

• Partnering with local businesses and non-profit organizations 

• Inviting partners to provide resources and information for parent meetings during the school year 

• Hosting the Parents as Partners Workshop series for our Hispanic families 

Building Capacity 

Lakeview will build the capacity of all stakeholders by holding workshops and meetings both virtually and in-person in order to provide information about

• State content standards 

• School curriculum 

• Assessments and measuring growth 

• Extra-curricular opportunities 

Stakeholder Feedback 

Comments and suggestions are always welcome and valued at Lakeview. We recognize that what makes our students successful is the collaboration between families, school staff, and the community. Families are invited and encouraged to provide feedback on the school's Parent and Family Engagement Policy by attending meetings, contacting a school staff member or administrator, or submitting written feedback at any time.
